I feel pathetic for even asking this, but...

Tomorrow DH is having some guys over to watch 'the game' and I have 4
hours to myself, but I can't think of anywhere to go!! How sad is that?

So, where would you go and what would you do if you had 4 hours to
yourself, but not in your house (and you have to take your 2-month-old
with you)?

Hang out? U mean like have a LIFE?
I wander WalMart and the library. A fun thing to do is hit the bookstore,
scoop up a pile of magazines and read for a while, u can put baby in a sling
or something, feed when she cries and keep reading. I usually buy a magazine
or cookieso r something as a Thank You to the bookstore. :)

I go to a coffeehouse and read, write letters, make lists, etc. I get to go
alone now, but I did take William with me until he got mobile. You probably
wouldn't want to spend four hours there, but you could burn a couple.

-Recreational shopping. Including a long stretch relaxing in a bookstore cafe.
(Do you have any Christmas shopping to do?)
-A girlfriend's house, to bake cookies or watch a rented movie or just talk and
veg
-Retreat to my own bedroom, with a good, long book, plenty of beverages and
snacks, and wearing fleecy loungewear. :-)
-Anywhere, really, where I could sit in reasonable comfort and read. I can
easily lose myself in a novel for 4 hours at a time.

Caterpillar probably would have slept through a movie at
that age, but I'd pick an early show of a kiddie movie
that's been out for awhile. It'll probably be you and 2
other moms with babies. :)

I usually go to the mall or the bookstore or Wal-mart.
Bookstore is good if you have a sleepy baby (lots of sitting
and reading), mall / Wal-mart is good with a wakeful baby
(lots of walking and things to see).

I would see first if I could get in for a last minute pedicure - I
used to do that with James all the time, and if he fussed I would just
nurse him.

Other things I would consider:

-Browsing a bookstore, getting some magazines, and going to a
coffeehouse; get a latte, a comfy chair and veg. Did this alot with
James too - he usually slept.

-windowshopping

-I might be even so bold to go to a movie; but this would depend what
kind of mood Jaden is in

-sadly, I would probably also consider going to my office to get some
work done, bringing a baby bouncer with me (I actually plan to do this
on occasion once #2 arrives, but only on the weekends). I know this
does not apply to you though. :)

-this is probably even more sad: I would call up a good friend and see
if she was willing to watch the baby and let me take a long nap at her
house! I actually did this a couple times when James was a newborn
and it was great - I was so sleep deprived! Some people might think
it is kinda weird though.

My absolutely favorite place to go is a thrift store. You never know what
you'll see, and the prices are low. Lately I've been buying all the cotton
onesies and terry sleepers I can find for cheap, and overdying them (see the
new stuff I've been doing at the bottom of the page:
www.oz.net/~chotii/tiedye.html (by the way, I'll sell any of these, because
I have to support my habit somehow!)). I love to browse the walls with
plastic bags o' stuff and bring home bars of handmade soap, the wall o' toys
in search of My Pretty Ponies (for my friend Margot, or for my daughters
depending on condition) and genuine Barbie clothes (for one of my
sisters-in-law), the bookshelves for sci-fi and fantasy books to re-sell on
half.com, the clothes racks for warm fuzzy sweaters or 10P trousers I'd
never ever buy new because they're too expensive...gee, I can spend *hours*,
and I won't spend too much money. Plus there's usually a comfortable old
couch to sit down and nurse, and if I'm lucky there's a coffee shop next
door for my 'fix'. I call this "hunting and gathering". It satisfies my
primitive instinctive need to look, dig, and go home triumphant. ;)

Christmas shopping. If Jaden would be quiet in a movie, you could consider
seeing a movie. Call a friend to go out to eat or go shopping with you.

Unfortunately I've done almost all the Christmas shopping I can do at
this point (my family doesn't draw names until Thanksgiving dinner, so I
don't know who to buy for). I have a couple people I could look for
things for though.

With how much DS was up this morning, this sounds pretty good. I feel
like this is my chance to get out and finally do something really fun -
I don't want to wake up tomorrow and smack myself thinking, oh, I should
have done _______. lol.

This reminded me I haven't had a haircut in 7 months - think it's time?

Movie. Wow. The last movie I saw was My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I
don't even know what's playing now, but that would be a treat! Good
idea.

I do have a friend who I could ask this and she wouldn't even think I
was weird. Not a bad idea at all.... :)

Yep! I haven't had a haircut since June, and I'm thinking a pedicure
would be nice too. I was 2 cm dialated at my OB appointment
yesterday, so I am thinking I'd better get on the ball with things
(like get my bag packed, get the clothes put away, get all my nursing
stuff together, prepare some stuff to put in the freezer, etc.). Then
again, it could be a trick, and I could walk around like this for 2-3
more weeks. :)

Enjoy your alone time!

The only reason I get a haircut more than every 2 years (even without
kids) now is because my closest neighbor cuts hair in her home. She's
not cheap but she sure is convenient!

I'm even more pathetic than you. When Pillbug
was 2 months old, I was afraid to go out of the
house, period! The once or twice that I did
venture out, Pillbug would scream bloody murder
and what should have taken half an hour ended
up being 3 hours 'cause I nursed in the car,
at the store, in the car again, he was screaming
on the way home... Now, Pillbug is 5 months and
I can do almost anything, but back at 2 months...
I wanted to stay in my bubble. (It's entirely
possible to never leave the house -- just order
everything via the internet, even groceries.)

I'm waiting for my hair to grow a couple
more inches so I can CHOP it off and
donate it to a place that makes wigs
for children with diseases that makes
them unable to grow hair. They want
ponytails that are at least 10 inches
long. If I cut off a 10-inch-long
ponytail right now, I'd look like a boy.

Locks of Love? I just read an article that said 6 inches is
enough. Allyson is going to cut off her hair (in
preparation for baby swim classes in January), but I don't
think she'd got for 10 inches gone.

Exactly! I'll check their website again. I
thought it said 10 inches. (I'm ready for

Hmm...I was just thinking of doing something drastic, and measured my
ponytail. I think I've got 10.5 inches of ponytail! There are even a
few listed salons in my area...
