View Full Version : what to do about exploring each other's bodies

My boys have always been interested in their bodies, but lately it's gotten
a little more extreme in exploring each other's bodies including their
private areas, IYKWIM. So how do you handle this? I'm assuming it's quite
normal for twins to do this, but maybe I'm assuming incorrectly and I just
have weird kids. ;-) I've tried not to make it a big deal, but at the same
time tell them that anything under their underwear is just their's and that
other people, including their brother, shouldn't touch there. I'm just
kind of hoping right now that they'll stop or at least only do this at home
and not at preschool. My goodness that would be embarrassing! I'm hoping
that some of you have BTDT and can tell me it's a short lived phase and can
offer some advice.

Most of the stuff I've read and how we handle it (our situation is a bit
different as Kathleen is in the beginning stages of development), but I
usually tell them to do other things, go outside, play, whatever. They know
when they are older that private parts are private just by saying it's
theirs and theirs only. As they age they will still be curious and we just
redirect them and keep them from being idle.

Thanks, Shirley. Redirection works for so many things, doesn't it.
