The listserver is called "lc4m", which is an acronym for "Legalize Choice
for Men". The lc4m listserver is a free computer program which
"broadcasts" incoming messages to the email addresses of all its
subscribers. It's a great place to post questions and announcements. It
can also be used as a discussion forum and as a means of distributing
ideas and gathering feedback. In effect, it's like a bulletin board.

However, it's not private. A copy of every message that you submit is
broadcast to everyone else on the list. The subjects of messages are
posted to usenet and whole messages are stored in an archive that can be
searched by keyword. Big public search engines may be able to index the
archive too.

lc4m helps us compare notes on successes and failures, to refine strategies
and to seek opinions on a variety of "Choice for Men" topics from a
sympathetic audience. Other activists have had good results with similar
lists.

lc4m is email based, so that anyone with an email account can use it
without having to learn special conferencing software or installing new
programs. Anyone on the Internet can subscribe or submit messages to it.
There's no charge and it won't impact your normal email.

How to subscribe

If you want to receive a copy of each message when it's available, then
simply send an EMPTY email with the word "subscribe" in the subject to

The main drawback to this is that you can get too much email.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to the "digest" format of lc4m, which
conveniently bundles messages together into digests that don't clutter up
your email. The upshot is that you get fewer, but bigger, emails. To
subscribe to the digest format, simply send an EMPTY email with the word
"subscribe" in the subject to
