Congratulations to any early birds who know they're pregnant already! Is
it a shock, or a much-awaited blessing? How many pregnancy tests did
you have to take before you believed it? :) Any symptoms yet?

For our TTC members, how is the journey going? Need to vent, cry, yell
a bit? Feeling hopeful? Into the 2ww? Lots and lots of baby dust to
you all. I know there are lurkers as well as the visible ttc'ers here,
and some ttc'ers who are staying silent on the subject or still deciding
whether to really go for it. Everyone should feel welcome in this
community... please know that we're cheering you on with all our hearts.
Hopefully there will be some new due date updates from some of you who
have had such a long, tough haul so far.

For any new members, hello and welcome! Have you started ttc (trying to
conceive)? Feel free to send an introduction, or keep us updated as you
look for signs of the big O (ovulation) by charting your BBT (basal body
temperature), do some BD (baby dancing), cross your fingers during the
2ww (two week wait, after ovulation but before a pregnancy test will
show anything), and then hopefully send your own new due date
message out! You'll often see TCOYF referred to: it's the fabulous book
_Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler, available from
Amazon and many bookstores. It talks all about how to chart your
fertility signs, both for pregnancy and for birth control, and is an
incredibly valuable way to learn about your own body. Highly
recommended reading for anyone starting down the road to pregnancy.
Welcome to the group. :)

Hi Mary and All

I'm 4 weeks - Due mid may.=20

Due14th by my calculations and loads of great help from Jenrose to read =
my BBT chart, without whom the doctor would have wanted to induce me =
after the 28th April.

I did 3 HPT and a Beta test, then another HPT before I would believe =
we'd finally done it.

I already have sore breasts, which I've had from day 1, Some =
constipation, so been drinking plenty of fluids and fresh fruit juices. =
And the dreaded heartburn, which I ONLY ever get during pregnancy, which =
is strange.

I don't know if it's just me but I'm finding myself ''checking'' every =
time I go to the bathroom to make sure I'm STILL pregnant. My doctor =
advised me NOT to tell anyone but DH and my 2 other children( 18 & 16), =
but to wait a further 3-4 weeks to tell the rest of the family. So I =
think this has put me on my guard a little and I'm expecting the worst. =
Is this normal? Or just a neurotic woman, whose being TTC for 12months, =
panicking ?

We've already picked names, we had these picked BEFORE we started TTC.

A baby girl will be Emily and a boy will by Connor. DH insist they NOT =
have a middle name and even though I'd love them to have one, I will =
respect his wishes.

So that's me............happy, anxious, excited and praying the next 3-4 =
weeks go ok. ............oh and already browsing baby items in shops !!!

Bang in the middle of my 2WW, which is actually more like a 2.5 week wait,
while I am on Prometrium (progesterone supplements). Last cycle I got my
period 17DPO whilst taking Prometrium.

Good thing: we'll be travelling and leave thursday, so I have my mind on
too many things to worry about the wait. We'll see what happens.

I should ovulate sometime in the next week, if I do manage to conceive
this month, the due date would be around 5th June, I'm looking forward to
plenty of baby dancing over the next couple of weeks, I'm wondering how
I'll feel if nothing happens, as last time we conceived the first possible
time.

I'm working on exercising to be as healthy as possible. I'm doing a
pilates class, I'm really hoping this will minimise my back trouble.

I'm really excited about TTC, but there are a few things I'm frightened
of, in particular the specific back injury I have causes me excruitiating
pain when the rib cage expands at 27 weeks, this really was worse than
labour, I'm wondering if it will be better this time because the rib cage
has already expanded before. I'm also wondering if I plan in advance if a
doctor will be able to help with pain relief, last time it hit at bedtime
when I was in Cyprus on a weekend..

Congrats!!

Is this normal? Or just a neurotic woman,

I think normal :-)
I didn't tell anyone until middle of my 4th month with #1 and about 3 months
with #2. It was more fun the first time because it went faster to the
people around me. The down side is no one knew the first trimester when I
was sick and miserable and could have used the sympathy ;-)

I've NEVER been normal, but at least I know I'm not the only person who =

I pciked the girls name my DH picked the boys. I've loved the name Emily =

Connor because his favourite film is highlander, sad I know, but at least =
it's a lovely name.

I will keep reading and posting to the group, I feel I have nothing to =

How wonderful, congrats!

I don't know about that whole thing with the doctor -- it's just so
personal, when to tell. To me it's kind of like a doctor giving
parenting advice; it's just their personal opinion, you know? Everyone
has their own preference. We told immediate family at 6 weeks after
seeing a heartbeat and they were sworn to secrecy. We had had a lot of
problems over the last 2.5 years with conception & losses and they
were very supportive and concerned for us. I couldn't imagine keeping
them dangling for a few months after all that, but that was us. We
also told our closest friends (one couple) right away as they also
knew the situation. Everyone else got told on kind of a sliding scale
depending on how close we are.

Also it is totally normal to be checking for blood all the time!

Best wishes for you and your spring baby

Thanks for the advice Elle. I think we'll wait till after we've book our =

reading a lot of things about losses during early PG (probably too much) =
We'll wait till we feel more confident, I'd hate to be in the situation =

I thought I was going to be an april due date but it looks like I
miscarried this week, in the beginning of the 8th week :-((

So I guess that means I fall in the TTC category again...

My DD was conceived right after my first miscarriage (three weeks after)
and I think we'll again start trying straigt away, maybe the result will
be the same as last time...though I'm not sure yet I'm up to it again,
I'll decide in a week or two...

Hi Mary! I'm a long time lurker, mostly non-poster. I've learned a
lot from reading, though, and hope to be a more regular poster once I
finally become pregnant. DH and I have been ttc since I cam off the
pill in June 2003. So, we're officially well past the one-year mark.
However, my cycles started out regular but in January I had a 60 day
cycle, followed by a 56 day cycle in March, but my cycles are slowly
becoming regular with Vitex in a low dose and, more recently,
tamoxifin on cycle days 3 through 7(same as clomid but marked for a
different purpose... acts the same at the dose I take).

We've had a SA done for DH (low, but not *that* low, 50 mill I think;
forget the morph). I've had an hsg done, which showed clear tubes.
And I am ovulating, with good hormonal blood levels, Prog on Day 7
after O, and good "ovarian reserve." In case you can't tell, we're
working withn an RE at this point.

I also started accupunture last week. (He tried to have me take these
Indian herbs (ayurvedic herbs?) too but I broke out in a rash and also
don't think it is really wise to mix herbs and western med at the same
time.) My accupunturist thinks I should try for 6 months with his
herbs first, but I'm ready to have a baby *now*. I'm 32, so I "have
time" but you know how it is when you really want a child. At my
second accupunture session, during the "relaxing" part of my session,
I actually for the first time could visualize *my* baby. Hope that's
a good sign, and not one that I'm going crazy!

Next week, we go in for IUI introduction about how to use needles, etc
in preparation for either next cycle or the one after that depending
on scheduling. I'm of course hoping for an 11th hour pg naturally! I
have either *just* O'd this month or am O'ing now, so need to get home
to BD again! (I'm wearing DH out I think).

Anyhow, the whole TTC thing sucks!!!!!!!!! I keep thinking I'm pg when
I'm not. Phantom pg signs, I guess. I'm slowly teaching myself that
*nothing* is a pg sign until 18 days of high temps, but it's hard when
it gets to day 14 or 15 and it looks promising..... I've also bought
just about every fertility/pg book on the market, and should own stock
in the pee stick companies. If you made it this far, thanks for
reading. Yellowgirl

Woohoo!!!! Congratulations!!! (Fwiw, both of my positive tests have been
extremely faint at 13 dpo, so faint that both times I have thought my gut
instinct was wrong, and I've thrown the test in the trash because it looked
negative, and I've hopped in the shower and checked the test again ten
minutes later, and there was a very faint line. Both pg's confirmed by
blood test, and one toddler and one preborn baby to show for those faint
lines.)

LOL! Yep, if you're due in May, you're just slightly behind me, and your
first baby is only 6-7 weeks younger than mine. It's a good trend (and I
think the approximately three-year gap is going to be great too). :) Ikwym
about not believing it yet though -- even with a good confirmation, it still
didn't seem real until I could start seeing the belly getting bigger, and
then until I felt movement it still seemed slightly surreal.

Ugh, I'm sorry yours is still bugging you. I hope it won't be a problem
with your new/next pregnancy! Mine is doing really well. My midwife
recommended a chiropractor that she uses, one who is a client of the birth
center and who is used to working on pregnant women, and I love her! I've
seen her four times so far, and after the first visit, my back felt about
90% better! I'd never seen a chiropractor before and was slightly
skeptical, but wow, what a difference it has made! I went from having
trouble sleeping at night because my back was hurting, saying, "OW!" when I
took a step the wrong way, etc. to being able to dash up the stairs without
any pain, in just a couple of days. Walking more and watching my posture
and how I sit (no crossed legs, trying to limit prolonged sitting) is
helping a lot too. My most recent visit was this morning, and she says I'm
doing really well. I've had hardly any pain in the past several weeks, just
the occasional minor ache, which is livable. The chirpractor says she may
not be able to get rid of the pain from a weak SI joint entirely, because
what fixes it completely is work on the abs, which she says I can't really
do much of during pregnancy. But it's much better, not getting any worse,
and she thinks that with a visit every three or four weeks, she'll be able
to keep it manageable for the pregnancy (by the end of the pg, she'll want
to see me more frequently, depending on how I'm doing). I'm totally sold on
chiropractic now -- have you seen one for your SI joint? (I shouldn't be
too surprised, I guess, that I've been converted; there was also a time when
I thought people would be nuts if they didn't have an OB, hospital birth,
and epidural, and that only really crazy hippy people had homebirths. And
you know where that got me. Lol.)

Hi Andrea,

IIRC I was due with DD about the same time you were due last time (DD
was born beginning of july 2003). I thought it was funny we were again
due at about the same time! I hope everything goes alright for you,
these first 12 weeks are a pain...

Thanks, also thanks to Kazh, Leslie, Elle, Jamie and Buzzy Bee, for your
support. It sounds weird, but a supportive word via the internet from
people you only know from reading a newsgroup does help!

Regards,
Cath

I know it helped me too currently and in the past.
Over a period of 4 years I've made some close friends over the internet, =
in fact I met DH in a NG.=20
