I don't believe any of this. Either this is a troll, or you have SOOO many
problems that a newsgroup is not the place for you to find help. Get thee to a
therapist.

>others.

Yea, which makes me think my first inclination was correct. If so, shame on
you for making Cele go through her own trama again just to help you. If not,
go get some help now.

my blood ran cold when I read what you wrote.
How dare you I am going thru things like this and as you can see other

i hope only that you never go thru traumas such as mine or Celes.
again all I can say is how dare you,
these types of replies remove the purpose of the support chat lines, that is
to be able to air your problems and look for solutions without prejudice or
ignorant people making comments like you have.
they are the types of comments that cause people to fall deeper into the
depths of despair and commit suicide if unstable.

Chloe, you obviously haven't read the FAQ before you posted or you'd know that
your statements about this newsgroup are flat out wrong.

I tend to agree with Joelle on this issue, if you have as many issues as you
mentioned, a single parents newsgroup is not the help you need. You need
INTENSE therapy.

This is NOT a "feel good, support you stupidly just because you're a single
parent" group. This a group that freely speaks their minds although it's not
always what you want to hear, sometimes it's what you need.

Personally, I'd go elsewhere for the "feel good" BS.... I like the real world
common sense here.

Just my 2 cents.........

Well I hope you never go through the traumas I have been through. You think
you are the only one who has suffered in the world?

>ll I can say is how dare you

You asked, I gave you my perspective. Something about your story doesn't ring
true. I don't believe you are being truthful, either about all the trauma, or
your part in it. You refuse to take any responsiblity and blame it on some
boy. If your home was as happy as you say, no boy would have that kind of
power over your daughter.

>urpose of the support chat lines, that is

This is not a chat line. This is usenet.

>hat is
>to be able to air your problems and look for solutions without prejudice or

Hahaha, usenet is where lots of ignorant people make comments, which is where
this should be the last place you should be seeking help. If you are for real,
you probably dont' want to go to therapy because a therapist will make you face
your own responsibility in this.

It was wrong to toss Chloe out like that. Perhaps, Chloe is receiving
help elsewhere, too. Nobody should judge who can post or not.

You can't label someone a troll just because you think they have too
many problems. The original post was well in the means of
appropriateness. And you don't need to protect Cele from reaching out
to help someone in particular or in general. I wish I had read Cele's
post before I posted my advice. It was very insightful and I think she
saw something in the original post that I didn't.

Well, of course you never think ANYthing I say or do is right. But I stand by
my first inclination. I don't think this person is real.

The way she dismissed the advice she got and then told us to go ahead and
discussed her problems clinched it for me. Someone who is worried about their
kid isn't interested in reading people discuss their situation.

I didn't judge who could post, I simply said she obviously didn't read the FAQ
because then she would have known that "feel good" BS isn't to be expected
here. She's free to post anything she wants and we're free to respond with
honesty in our feelings. Again below is her expectation that she will receive
"feel good" support.

Seems pretty clear to me that she didn't read the FAQ or lurked for a bit to
see what the group is about. Nothing wrong with that, but then don't jump on
others when they tell you something you don't want to hear.

But, she said she tried so many things... police, intervention, etc.,
already. She sounded frantic and in desparation. And, if she is real,
it's a shame for us to tell her to "go get therapy" and ask "why
didn't you read the FAQ?," etc.

You have to be kidding.

Then again, you think you can tell someone is a child molester just by looking
at them. Yea, much better people with multiple problems listen to people like

I didn't say you were a bad poster. And I don't know what you are

what are you talking about?

And, you snipped most of my post... which doesn't say *not* to get

Well, this certainly is an anonymous forum so it's hard to make the
call to ignore issues based on that criterion.

Yeah, there are people who probably are guilty of what you say.
Probably a lot. I think Scott Peterson's guilty, too... but I would
rather see him go free, than an innocent person go to prison. Sort of
a dumb analogy, but why not believe people here? Unless it's really
obvious they're a hoax, the only thing that is spent is a little pride
or embarrassment.

otoh, it's good to have someone from all sides presenting
advice/arguments, too. There's room for all of it, I guess. If there
is enough people to welcome intruders, it's not that big of a deal.

First let's be clear that I'm not jumping on any band wagons and certainly
not defending or ganging up on anyone here, okay?

My opinion is that if you truly feel this strongly about what someone you
don't know and will probably never meet has written in a public forum, which
is open to all and sundry to express whatever views they like, then maybe
this isn't the right medium for you to be using at this time.

To get the best out of a newsgroup, any newsgroup, you need the skin of a
rhino, the back of a duck and a super-sized filtering system that will allow
you to pick out only those things that are helpful to you.

> How dare you I am going thru things like this and as you can see other
> parents like Cele have been thru similar traumas

She only has what you have written to inform her opinions, as do we all.
IMHO whatever those opinions are they are perfectly valid, at least at some
level, even if they do not match those of others or what you would, perhaps,
have expected. Right, wrong or something else, we're all entitled to our
opinions and we're all entitled to express them here. I don't have a
problem with that myself as I often find opinions I'd rather not have heard
to be the most useful in the long run.

> i hope only that you never go thru traumas such as mine or Celes.
> again all I can say is how dare you,

Big assumption here, I think. Do you actually know for certain that Joelle
*hasn't* had experiences that have been equivalently traumatic for her?

As a point of information only, this newsgroup is not in any way moderated
or controlled so it's up to you to filter out posts you find unhelpful.

> they are the types of comments that cause people to fall deeper into the
> depths of despair and commit suicide if unstable.

My opinion, for what it's worth is that a public forum like a newsgroup
probably isn't the best place for someone who is that unstable to be seeking
help.

> shame

In you opinion, of course. Other will do doubt choose to think differently.
That's the way of the world and this group is no different.

For myself I've leaned to take good advice from wherever it comes, always
assuming I recognise it as good of course. That's the tricky bit.

You have a hard road ahead but you've coped well in the past so I think
you'll be fine. I wish you luck though. A little good luck never hurt
anyone.

I agree that the world is full of strange people but, for myself, I'd prefer
to allow someone the benefit of the doubt, especially on Usenet as it really
doesn't cost me anything at all.

Don't fall into the sort of trap that police sometimes do of thinking that
everyone has criminal intentions purely because most of the folks they see
on a daily basis have.

> And if I'm wrong, I still say, these issues are too serious for a bunch of

I'm pretty much with you on this one. Advising someone on the basis of a
few posts is fraught with difficulties. Similarly, some pieces of advice
*are* only likely to be useful if you know a lot about the person giving the
advice.

It *can* be anonymous but many who post here are probably easily traced.
Something for everyone to bear in mind I'd say.

I agree 100% and I don't feel at all embarrassed at replying to something
that turns out to be a hoax. I use the Net for entertainment as much as

What did I ever do to you? What did I ever do to Joelle, anyway?

My guess of theology was pretty close to sociology (or whatever she
said). There were a few theology students there, and since Joelle is
currently a pastor, it was a good guess. It certainly wasn't a
slanderous comment, unlike things that were said in my direction.

This is a really weird argument.

Right, that's it. You two, out in the corridor now. Christine, you'll be
joining them too if you're not careful, my girl.

Honestly, kids today. <sigh> ;-)

I think I'll follow suit. Seems all she's done lately is look for a reason
to blame you for something and I'm sure you don't need me adding more fuel.

Resorting to name-calling is quite a comeback.

You posted a horrible allegation about me, Reverand Joelle. You said
that I could tell a child molester by just looking and I asked you to
explain. You ignored my request after saying that horrible thing. The
creep-out was by you. Not me.

I think you're obsessed with me and inventing things along the way.

Not surprised you follow your pal. Nobody needed you fueling the fire.
You could have done what was right and honest, though. You didn't need
to pick sides. You've lost your credibility by following the leader of
the pack.

It is weird. I was weirded out with that accusation. It was wrong for
say that, and I gave her opportunity to say she was wrong. She must
have me confused with someone else, or is remembering something wrong.
She probably tried to look it up in the archives so she could blast
me, but there's nothing there. She's incapable of saying she made a
mistake but wanted to give another kick as she walked out and said
she'd filter me. She could have just killfiled me and not make the big
announcement, but she didn't.

The truth is obvious and I hope others reading the accusation and
silent followups know it's her problem, not mine.

Did it ever occur to you she was talking in a broad sense? That our ability
to see people for who they really are just by looking at them is out of
touch with reality? So the only thing weird around here is your focusing on
one comment and twisting it to suit yourself.

Joelle and I have had our differences in opinion so this creation of sides
for you to distinguish from doesn't add to your credibility either.

Same thing. Instead of acknowledging the issue at hand, your diversion
was to call me a moron. How ironic. erm... moronic.

She could have said she was speaking in a broad sense, when I asked
her to explain. But, she was above that somehow.

I wasn't twisting one comment to suit myself. I just requested a
simple explanation. I wonder how you'd feel/react if something dire
was insinuated against you in a public forum?

She has your posts in the killfile, doesn't she? If so, she couldn't SEE
your posts until someone else replied.

I don't 'know what the deal is with you to but I see Joelle has made her
last comments to you so maybe it's best to let it go.
