Hi all,

I have a question. Is it normal for cycles to change completely after 25
years? My normal was 6.5 - 7.5 days since I first started way back when.
They didn't change much after the first 6 kids, other than being a day
longer after #6 and a bit heavier. So my baby Z is 16 months old now, I just
had my first cycle since he was born. Problem is, it was only 3.5 days and
pretty light. Every other time, it came back a bit heavier for at least the
first cycle and then settled into normal. Please tell me this is a normal
change and that dh's vasectomy didn't fail? I would be rather surprised if
it was a pre-menopausal thing as I'm only 37 and menopause runs late in my
family. Mid- to late 50's is the trend on my mom's side.

(not panicking yet, but...ack. There's a reason dh went through that..and it
wasn't just so we could owe more $$ for a failed surgery!)

Hi Stephanie, nice to hear from you :-)
I had the same thing after Lydia was born and I wondered if it was a
result of my c/section changing thing but it could just be age. I was
normally a 5-6 day fairly decent bleeder, then the 6 or so periods I had
before I concieved were only 2-3 day's long and very light....not that
I'm complaining, just it can be a little disconcerting when you don't
know why.

Mine got a *lot* lighter after my daughter was born. (After 17 years od
cycles.) And they went from five days to three days.

Zannah.

Hi Andrea - congrats on your newest expected one! I'll be thinking lots of
positive thoughts for you, everything will go wonderfully this time around:)

I will take hope from your experience - if I have to have periods, I'd just
as soon they be quick and painless. Some (very small, possibly insane) part
of me wouldn't mind having another someday, but we literally can't afford to
have more kids right now.. I expect we'll get papers from our mortgage co
this week saying pay up or get out:( DH has interviews next week so
hopefully a job will be in his near future and we can work something out
with the company. I don't like the idea of being homeless during a high
desert winter!

Between you and Andrea, I will hope that this will be my new normal then -
sure won't hurt my feelings any! Thanks much, Zannah - I appreciate the
input:)
