Flashlight fun

With two flashlights, try this in a darkened room.
Focus your light on the wall or ceiling. Ask your
child to meet your spot. Flash your light briefly
on a spot and see if she can put her beam on
the same spot. Slowly trace a path on the wall
and ask him to follow it with his beam. Trace
shapes and ask him to name them. Have her
trace a shape and you guess it.

Making shapes.

Let your child draw letters, shapes and numbers
in different materials - playdough, finger paint,
shaving cream, soap foam, clay, string, pizza dough,
pudding. Make shapes or letters or numbers from
sandpaper and have him trace them with his fingers

Mazes and dot to dot activities

Buy a maze book, or make your own mazes on paper
or in sand at the beach. Have the child follow the
mazes with his finger, a crayon, a toy car, chalk, a
marker. Buy a dot to dot book or make dot to dot
patterns on graph paper for her to follow.

Geoboards

Buy a geoboard or make one by hammering rows
of nails into a block of wood. Make a pattern by
stretching rubber bands on the nails. Ask your
child to duplicate it. Have her make a pattern for
you to duplicate.

Peg board

Have your child duplicate a pattern you make or
make his own pattern

Cutting activities

Provide paper and scissors and have your child cut
fringe or strips. Draw curved lines on paper for her
to cut. Have him cut playdough.
