Is anyone here, particularly in the U.S. since this brand may only be in the
US, not sure.....have any experience with the brand "Fun Time" toys? There
are a lot of this brand at Big Lots stores, and I am not familiar with how
durable or safe or well-made they are, as compared to the brands I am
familiar with (Fisher Price, Playskool, Little Tykes, Hasbro, etc).

I bought Rachel a few things since they had a lot of inexpensive little
doo-dad types of toys.

For example, a "spinning ball toy"-- where you press the top, something in
the bottom part spins and 3 little balls pop up, for $4.99. And I forget
what all else, a $1.99 rattle type thing for babies 6 months + etc.

I don't expect high dollar quality, but Rachel seems to like these, and as
fast as kids will tire of toys, and as often as I like to buy her something
new, I thought I'd try them out, since I'm not going buy her a $50 Fisher
Price toy every week, but I want her to be stimulated and have fun with toys
toys toys.

Also on that note Big Lots had a Baby doll,, something-berger brand name
called the Lollipalooza and it smells like peaches (they had other scents).
She likes to look at this doll- I think it's for ages 1 and up- because it
has a large head and big eyes. Goldberger, that's the brand.....anyone have
experience with these? The doll was only $7.99 and is supposed to be
lifetime guaranteed and machine washable. I am thinking of getting her one
or two more , they seem very well made....

Anyone found any neato little toys lately that your 6-12 month old loves?

My almost 8 month old is a new crawler so she's decided that any and
everything thats NOT a toy is fun to explore. But, she does love it
when I fill a little bucket with things and she pulls them out one by
one to investigate. She also loves 'baby paper' - synthetic paper that
is waterproof, tear-proof, but crinkles and folds and just like regular
paper (which she also loves but was ripping off pieces with her teeth).

Oh, where do you get this "baby paper?" I need some-- Rachel LOVES the
newspaper and of course, she can't have it for many obvious reasons- the
nasty blank ink, tearing it to shreds etc. Rachel always grabs at paper, and
if I could find some safe paper that would be awesome.

Give her a magazine that you are done reading.

I got it at an office supply type store, ask for a waterproof/tear proof
paper. It might be harder to find. Then be sure to 'test' it out by
making sure it won't rip. Even I couldn't tear a chunk off with my
teeth. She likes it, but if she sees a magazine nearby she goes for
that instead...they just know!

Sounds like Tyvek(tm) to me, do you think that's it? It cuts with
scissors and accepts water-based inks and paints, but doesn't tear? We
sold it by the foot as banner material when I worked at an art and sign
supply shop. It was cheap enough as I recall.
