View Full Version : sick :-(

I've been sick again this morning, last time was Friday, so it really is
nothing more than NVP, but at 21 weeks I thought I was past that! On Friday
I felt better very quickly, today I'm not having the same luck, fortunately
DH was still home when it happened and DS is being quite reasonable for a
toddler, I think he is going to sleep right now, which should give me a bit
more time to recover. I think what I need to do is eat, but right now I
can't think of anything that I want to eat, I ate some fruit straight after
and now I'm sipping a glass of coke.

:-( I hope you feel better soon. Do try to eat something.
(Does Coke really feel good on an upset stomach? It does bad
things to me when I'm not sick...)

I've heard it recommended as settling an upset stomach, I think it helps me
as due to it being fizzy I sip not gulp, then once I've had a whole glass I
have a bit of energy, which means I've now decided to eat a yoghurt :-).

Glad you're perking up. I think that ginger ale is sometimes
recommended for the tummy settling function, but it's not
as acidic as Coke.

If you can find it, real ginger ale that contains actual ginger is
better than fake ginger ale that has "ginger flavoring." Check the
health food store in your area.

When I was bartending, if someone ordered ginger ale, I'd fill a glass
most of the way with Sprite, then top it off with a smidge of Coke.
Stir. You honestly can't tell the difference between this and "fake"
ginger ale.

<sigh> DH had some cheap ginger ale and I thought, "Oh, ginger ale sounds
good..."

Took two sips and gave it to my kiddo. Yech.

Have you tried Blue Sky or Hansens gingerale. Both are quite gingery.

When I was super queasy with #3, the kitchen at the hospital made up a
gingerale knockoff-7-up/pepsi/rootbeer mixed. I think that is what is was.
Anyway, it tasted okay, but not very gingery!

Blue Sky and Hansens are "almost" gingerale, and certainly better than the
grocery store brand artificial junk by a huge margin. But I'm partial to
Reeds and "small batch brewed artisan" ginger ales that actually, you know,
have ginger root on the label and not as the last ingredient or as "ginger
flavor" either.

I don't like that one brand that comes in a dark bottle that has a tropical
scene on it-too gingery for me, but it is good with

once again-
My belly hit a button and sent a partial message.

There is a ginger drink that is too gingery for me-the bottle that has a
tropical scene on it. It is good with a plate of Phil's Ono chicken from
Noho's, though!

I'm sorry you feel badly. What is NVP?

It is great that your toddler is being quite reasonable. I hope you feel
better soon -- and are all better by the time you read this message.
