Do you need the portacrib? It might be a good opportunity to try the
two year old sleeping on a pallet (sp?) or in a sleeping bag. Of course
the main concern there might be bugs in the cabin. You could locate a
second hand store to pick up a portacrib too--then take it back to them.
I have always worn my back-pack carrier in the airport, but my kids were
a little bit younger when I did it. As someone else mentioned, the
cosmetic issue is the main concern. As far as safety goes, you should
tie the support leg closed and tape down the waist straps and any other
straps so that they don't get caught in any conveyers. If you have an
old pillow case, that may work as a good cover for it. Make sure there
is a luggage tag on it.
