Plissken
March 5th 05, 12:25 AM
girl! Not yet named. 7lbs 3.5oz born 11:48 a.m. Friday March 04. Didn't have
my homebirth as planned but it all turned out fine anyway. Very brief
description of what happened...

Wed march 02 waters broke at 7 p.m. no really bad contractions but enough to
keep me awake (also excited!) 24 hours later still no major contractions.
Went to hospital got IV for antibiotics (GBS +) went home, contractions
kicked in around 7 p.m. and were fairly strong and painful. Midwife had
checked cervix in hospital and not yet dilated. Midwife came every 4 hours
throughout night to administer antibiotics. By 7 a.m. I was in a lot of pain
(front and back labour) and had only dilated 3 cm. Midwife suggested
hospital for epidural and oxytocin. No problem I was in major pain. Got to
hospital at 8 a.m. (approx) and was quite a wait for epi. Got some Fentanyl
(sp?), LOVED it! Took the edge of off the contractions yet was not nearly as
dopey as Demerol (had with 1st birth). Had a few shots of that (only lasts
20 min). At 10:30 7 cm dilated and oxytocin and epi on it's way. 11:15 nurse
about to enter room with oxytocin but I had to push NOW! Baby girl born 25
minutes later. We are all at home already (only 5 hours in hospital). Maddy
(now 22 months) is VERY good with the new baby. She keeps looking at her and
saying "baby cute!" and we let her hold her and she was VERY gentle with
her. That's it for now, I'm starving and have had 5 hours sleep in the past
60 hours!
