Had another "meet another partner" OB visit today.
Things are going well: BP was 104/66, no glucose, trace
protein, weight up about 39lbs (according to my own
scale), heart rate was 143, fundal height 34cm.
This doc says "Have we met? You look familiar." I
said I thought we'd seen him in the hospital one on
our trips in with Scheherazade. He looked at my chart
and said "You're doing ... much better this time!" Then
asked about the MTHFR note (saying out the whole word
that that stands for, which I found very impressive!).
Later on, he remembered (without my saying) that I
also have DS, who was born in another state. He ended the appt
by talking a bit about birth-plan type stuff, saying
the decision to have (or not) an epidural was completely
up to me, they don't pressure either way, are willing
to administer it at full dialation, agreeing when I said
I could probably do without it, having done so through
a pitocin-augmented labor before. He also added that
it would be highly unlikely that I'd need an episiotomy.
I said I was going to bring in a short birth plan
addressing those points, and he said sounds good.
In general, it was a very positive experience: Here's
an OB who's not the one I've been seeing (but might
end up being there at delivery), who seems to be up on
the details of my case, is pleased that I'll be bringing
in a birth plan, and managed to sound relatively
non-interventionist on the two topics he brought up.
All nice and reassuring :-)
I start NSTs next week (since the problem last time
was a placental one). No OB visit next week, but
then weekly NSTs+OB visits until the baby arrives!
