View Full Version : Something to giggle at

Alicia Elliott
July 24th 03, 08:20 AM
Last week I was sitting with my Mum and my Love and we were talking about
all of the special adaptations which might be useful for a pregnant woman to
aid her getting around, and to make her a little safer in public. (I am only
able to say this because I am quite enormously pregnant at the moment) The
images we came up with were too funny, and I decided to sketch out what we
had come up with. I posted it online along with my regular pregnancy shots
for some comic relief. I also added a pic that I made up with my face
superimposed over the body of a T-Rex since for quite some time that was
exactly how I felt: huge, cumbersome and pea brained. Anyway, for those of
you who wish to share in a giggle at my expense, please feel free to check
those goofy things out. Perhaps someone out there has another funny image
or comparison to make? Verbally or otherwise... LOL

Alicia, there are some beautiful pictures there - have you ever thought of
modelling? And the pregnancy precautions made me laugh!

Cute! Are those hairy legs I can see? Cause I can definitely relate to not
being able to shave my legs!

These are great, Alicia! :-D To the precaution one, I might have also added
a small crane for hoisting out of bed! ;-)

LOL!

You know, some Dutch regional costumes involve two golden
plates to the side of a woman's head, very much like your
rear-view mirrors. Now I know where that idea came from...

Hey Nadene, you are right, those are hairy legs. : ) I added them as an
afterthought. I haven't shaved my legs for months. Not only because they
are hard to reach, but since I had such a sharp pain every time I lifted my
leg, I didn't think it was worth it. The sun has almost bleached it all
blond by now anyway, and for those who are disgusted by hairy legged women,
well, they can just look away. I'm not the most regimented when it comes to
that anyway. Even when not pregnant. : )

That is a super idea! A crane would be a great addition to the wardrobe for
sure. LOL

I can't remember when I last shaved my legs. Or anything else, for
that matter. A good few years, now. Think of all the time saved for
other, more important things! Like, er, sleep! Or wallowing in the
bath!

As a somewhat eclectic guy, I have to say I *HATE* shaved legs.

Well, I must say that that is why I prefer DH to have a beard. I'll
take well-grown, soft facial hair over stubble any day!

same here. my dh has a beard and i don't shave my legs or underarms.
and we are both happy with the other's hairyness. :)
actually, though we are both hirsute, i am still surprised at how hairy
my little boy is. he has swirls of light brown hair on his lower back,
and his upper arms and shoulders. the kid's only 3.5 and he looks
positively virile. :)

I'd bet my son will be like that. I'm a little on the hairy side (blond,
Eastern European) and Bloke is Hispanic and quite hairy (except for the top
of his head :o)). I saw a picture of Bloke's daughter when she was a
toddler, and (OMG I shouldn't say this) she looked almost
monkey-like...uni-brow, sideburns and whatnot. Now that she's older it's
not quite so dramatic, though she's got beautiful thick curls, but she'll
have a bit of a moustache when she's grown.

I personally like to keep my legs shaved in summer (didn't used to do, but
certain family members freak out when I don't, so it started out as the
path of least resistance). At 32 weeks it's getting awkward, but do-able,
only I've got these welts on my shins now that look like bug bites, but
they might be ingrown hairs, because I don't have them anyplace else. So,
no shaving until they subside.

Thanks Edith! I am in Victoria, B.C., so they were taken at various
locations around the outskirts of the city. I had my mum, my hubby and a
friend (professional photographer) take them for me. : )

At 6 mo preg carrying triplets looking like I've surpassed my due date by a
month, I've ALMOST given up shaving my legs. I ignore them mostly but then
sitting at one of my husbands softball games looking at my white hairy legs
(I've got dark hair), I admit I have a problem with the vanity aspect. I
know, funny with how swollen my ankles are and how puffy everyone tells me
my face is. I've made my husband paint my toe nails but I'm afraid to have
him shave my legs for some reason (actually I don't even know if he would)

Anyway, there has been a commercial on TV advertising a new depilatory foam
mousse. You just spray it on, wait 10 minutes, then wash it off. I thought
"Awesome, I can do this." Spraying it on means that I don't have to bend
over too far. I tell you . . . IT DOESN'T WORK!!!! I'm going to be writing
the company to complain about disappointing a pregnant woman :-).

I wouldn't use that for the fact that I would be afraid that it would
be absorbed and not safe for the baby.
