We are trying to concieve our first child. We missed the August cycle and
are trying for the Sept cycle. My problem is I am not regular and have not
had period since June 15th. I had 1 depo shot in March and did not get my
second one because we decided we wanted to start with kids. I wish I would
have known that before I got the shot! During the shot I bled the whole
time. I had the shot many years ago and it was great. This time it has
really screwed me up. I don't even know if I'm ovulating. My doctor appt is
for Sept 23rd. Its with regular internal physician because it a new
insurance for me. I'm telling him that we are trying to have a baby but I
want him to give me provera or something to jump start my cycles..........
SOON. Should I be asking for provera? What will I have to go throught to
get it?

Thanks

I had heard that also. I had really good experiences with it in the past.
I took it several times for two years straight and went right back to being
regular immediately. This time was a disaster! I only got one shot this
time and bled non-stop the whole time, through my wedding and honeymoon to
top it off. I've taken 2 home preg tests and both were negative. One this
week, one 2 weeks ago when I went through extreme nausea day and night for a
week. How far along do you have to be for a PG home test to detect?

Usually 14-18 days after ovulation. Theoretically, the spotting you had
1.5 weeks ago could have been cervical mucous signalling ovulation or
implantation spotting. If the latter, you probably would have gotten
a + on a preg test by now. If the former, you should get your
period in a couple of days, or if pregnant test positive next week.

Since you just got a negative test, take another before you see
your doctor. If its negative too, you can tell him and perhaps
that'll convince him to give you provera.

Well, I personally like Depo. I am having my tubes done after this
child so I hope that I don't ever have to have it again though.

I had 2 shots of Depo (for a total of 6 months being on Depo) after
having my DD. It took my DH and I about 18 months to conceive once we
actually started TTC. I have heard of it taking that long for many
women after Depo.

hi, it took us a full 18 months after my last shot of depo to
conceive. I used depo for the 3 years prior to that, and had no
bleeding at all for that entire time. After quitting depo it took a
while for my cycle to reestablish itself, and it was very different
to how I remembered it BD (before depo ;-) ). 'Taking Charge of Your
Fertility'/ is a great book, you'll learn so much about your body,
including when and whether you are ovulating.
