View Full Version : Lump on my junk?

First off, I do apologize if this is TMI... I just have a concern about a
lump thing on the inside of my crotch...

I remember while pg with DD, I found this small little lump on my crotch...
It was located on my right side, about a finger width away from my leg
joint, on my crotch. It didn't hurt to touch, didn't bother me at all,
other than it was there and I never had anything like that before and
couldn't figure out what it was.
I noticed it, I think, in the second half of my pregnancy. It did go away,
and I think it finally disappeared some time shortly after DD was born. I
do not know if it's pregnancy related or not.

I just noticed again, that I have this same lump! I noticed it within this
last week. It's in about the same spot, on the same side, but to me it
feels a bit bigger, but DH thinks it's about the same size. Not that it
really matters, I guess. This time, though, it hurts to touch. It has
almost a slight throbbing pain to it, and if I touch it, it has the painful
feeling of something like a bee sting with the stinger still in it. It kind
of hurts just sitting or walking around, and it really hurts to touch it.
It has no different color than the rest of my skin, although it's kind of
hard to see based on where it's located. The area (that finger width or so)
between the little bump and my leg is fairly painful as well. The area to
my left of it, like towards my you know... is not painful at all. Above it,
just below my pubic bone, is not painful, but directly below it is.

Again, I do not know if this is pregnancy related, but I first found it
while pg with DD, then it went away completely until recently, and it feels
like it's come back full force. Anyone have or had something similar or
heard of this? If I grab it completely, it feels about the size of a small
grape. It feels round if I pinch it between my fingers, but feels longer,
almost an oval shape, if I just feel it without grabbing it. I can grab it
and almost ball it up all around, kind of like it feels like a small marble,
but it feels like it's almost implanted and attached to the area that tends
to be real tender, right beside my leg joint.

Alright, I know this is probably hard to follow and understand, but it's
hard to explain. Could this mean something's wrong down there? It is on
the outside of my body, but it's under the skin, as if I had a little grape
implanted under my skin. It has a feeling of something like a little tiny
ball rolled up in a piece of chewed chewing gum.

Any ideas? Should I be seeing my OB about this? Should I be calling a
regular doctor? Should I be concerned? I see my OB on the 27th, but it's
fairly painful. I'm not crazy about going to random Doctor X at some clinic
to look down there and check it out, but I am more comfortable asking my OB,
but if it's not pregnancy related, she will probably just tell me she has no
idea what it is, go elsewhere to have it checked out... It really does
hurt, though!

My bet is a varicose vein!

The best treatment is....having the baby and it'll go away again. :)
Mention it to your Dr though.

It sounds like when I had a cyst/abscess there. It felt like a lump
under the skin, painful to the touch, but not so much in the surrounding
areas. Where it is could be caused by an ingrowing hair folicle. Make an
appt with your regular doctor (your ob won't do much) as it might need
antibiotics, or at least checking. I tended to get them in the heat as
the sweat aggravates it. It would also explain why it disappeared and
came back - may or maynot be triggered by pregnancy. If they are
recurring very often, they can be removed in a simple op.

Hope it goes away soon, they're not pleasant. Warm baths/flannels help
to bring the swelling out, which yes, makes it a bit more sore, but can
get it to go a bit quicker. Don't squeeze/open it though, as it's more
prone to infection, what with it being "down there".

Take care

haha, I have yet another potential diagnosis, I was thinking are there lymph
nodes in that area? as it sounds very much like a swollen lymph gland

anyway, I'd check it out with the doctor, unless it gets more painful, there
is no need to rush in

I agree with Anne that's it probably a lymph node. I can feel one on either
side of my groin all the time and they are about the size of a small grape.
I also have one similar but smaller lump actually in one of my labia (on the
side) and that apparently is a blocked sebaceous (sp) gland and they
apparently help lubricate the vagina. Hope this helps :)

*blushes* I stood in the kitchen (no, no one was around) and I looked, and
now that whole side looks real swollen right at that spot where this bump
is. It could also be my own imagination, but it now feels like it's even
bigger now than it was earlier.
If I kind of pull the skin up to make it more taught around there, the bump
really sticks out.

I no longer have my own family doctor... The kids have their ped, I have my
OB, and for small illnesses, we just use the drop in clinic... I'm really
not sure how comfortable I would be just calling up Dr. Random and seeing if
they're accepting new patients, and I'm really not comfortable going down to
the drop in clinic for this! As before, though, there's still no odd
colors... Everything is all the same color - no redness or any color other
than my normal skin color, and I am fairly fair when it comes to complexion.

I'd call and ask to see your OB about it. Although it's not in their normal
area of expertise, they are still doctors. If it's something he can't
handle, he can refer you to someone who can.

By the way, I was thinking Lymph Node myself.
