My son was 8 weeks premature. When he was born he had 10 fingers, 10
toes and perfect features, he spent 30 days in the NICU. He is very
smart, good hearted but has several challenges in his life. I worry
that he may not be prepared for the real world and that scares me. My
other children (3 girls) were full term and no complications. For the
most part he was normal, the doctors said he would catch up
developmentally to other children by the time he was 5 years old. He
is 10 now, 2 years ago we took him to a doctor that sent us to an
optometrist and the change has been incredible. I will never see an
eye exam in the same way again. I still worry but I am beginning to
see the light at end of the tunnel.
