View Full Version : heartbeat on doppler at 10w

Hi everyone,
I've been away for awhile, but I've finally finished catching up on everyone's
news.

I had my second doctor's appointment Friday. I was 10w2d, and I heard the
heartbeat on doppler. What an amazing experience. I remembered the thread
about getting a doppler at home so you could listen to your heart's content.
Now I can see why people would want to do this. I think for me the doppler
made it even more real than the u/s, because with the u/s, you are looking at a
big machine. So I've started telling a few people, and presumably the word
will start to get around. I am a little irritated, though, at all the times I
tell people and their first response is 'you need to be more careful'. How do
they know? I prefer people whose first response is "congratulations, that's
wonderful news!'.

I was also wondering what other women have experienced with pregnancy after
miscarriage. I am finding that I simply can not relax into the pregnancy the
way I could with the first two (yes, two - the first miscarriage alone didn't
affect me this way). It really helps to have these signs that it is real and
healthy, but I still can't quite relax.

One thing I have been doing is trying to spend 10 minutes a day just meditating
on the fetus and sending it positive vibes, since I worry a little that my fear
is not healthy for it. I keep telling myself that once I am out of the first
trimester, I will relax, but now I"m starting to wonder if it is that easy.

Did you hear the heartbeat with either of the first two? This may not mean
much in all cases but my doctor told me a chance of miscarriage reduces
greatly once the heartbeat is heard. I'm sending you good vibes and wishing
for you to have a healthy pregnancy!

I made a conscious effort to do things that make me happy. I like sewing
and made myself some cool maternity clothes. I like doing volunteer work
and signed up for some tasks. I love taking our dog for a walk, so I do
that. I try listening to music I really like, and eating food I really
like (yes, in moderation!) and hanging out with supportive people. When I
find myself thinking about a bummer, as soon as I catch myself, I think
about a project that either I've just completed (success!!) or just about
to begin (anticipation!) and that really helps keep my mood -- and my
chemistry -- positive!

Be more careful? Why? What a weird thing to say.

I think hearing the heartbeat is pretty neat too :)

I've always wondered about this "fact". Especially with women getting u/s
earlier and earlier I wonder if that really holds any truth anymore.

That's great news!!! I am like you...seeing it on u/s was GREAT but I can't
wait until I can hear it! This is fun you are just enough ahead of me that
I get see the milestones right before they happen to me :)
