leaking fluid???

hey guys....quick question...
how do you know if you are leaking aminotic(sp??) fluid? i am not sure
if what i am having is normal or not. can you help?

When I studdied midwifery we got them to wear a pad,( and yep they made us
sniff them!) if it's amniotic fluid it will have a faint sweet smell that
won't smell like urine. It's best to go get checked out, they can look and
see if it comes out of your cervix or not. You didn't mention your gestation
or the amount of fluid so my advise is to see a dr or midwife.

Usually you won't be. Most of the time it's just thinner cervical
fluid. However the best test is to put a pad in and see how wet it
gets. If it gets wet enough to be changed over the course of a couple
of hours it's probably not just normal discharge. If it feels like
it's gushing when you move from sitting to standing or vice versa go
and see someone immediately. Either way you can have a simple swab
test done or a speculum exam to see if there is fluid coming from the
cervix. When I was pregnant with #3 I had a slow leak start at 33w4d
and it took me nearly 8 hours to work out that it really was a leak.
Anything that slow is usually not a problem for prolapsed cords etc so
you've probably got a bit of time to get it checked out.
