View Full Version : best infant car seat for VW Beetle?

June 17th 04, 01:08 AM
Hi, I have a 2001 VW Beetle and I just paid it off. :) But....a friend
of my husband's came over the other night and said that getting a car
seat to fit in my back seat would be difficult. :(

Anyone have any suggestions? I know eventually I may want to change to
some kind of 4 door vehicle with bigger back seats, but part of the
reason I paid it off now is so I won't have car payments after the
baby comes so I'd prefer not to have to buy another vehicle anytime
soon...

any suggestions?

Hmm, I haven't had any trouble getting carseats
in there. Do you have any idea what carseat you'd like?
If you'd seriously consider a Britax Marathon, I'd
seriously consider getting it out of the minivan and
putting it into the Bug to see how it fit ;-)

Best wishes,
Ericka

I found that the infant/convertible seats never worked right in the Bug
(2002). We gave up and didn't take the baby in that car. My baby is now in
a booster and it works great with one of the shoulder harnesses on either
side. It's been my experience that any car without a center lap only
seatbelt sucks for carseats. They do make that clip thing that's supposed
to make the shoulder one work, but it never worked right in the Bug for us.
Good Luck!!

I have a very small car but found that my evenflo vangard 5 comfort sport
fits great in it. I have a ford tempo they don't make those anymore and its
about as small as your bug. Try going to a place where you can actually
take the car seat that you want to purchase to your car and see how it fits.
