Oops! I forgot to mention that she is still breastfed several times a
day - usual schedule would be: first thing in the morning, to fall
asleep for her nap, to go to sleep at night, and 3 or 4 times a night.

I also don't know when I can start eating peanuts again. I am
beginning to miss them. :)

Thank you!

Hey Vicki! I didn't realize that Zora and Aurora share a birthday! That is
*way* cool.

Honestly, I introduced all of these foods except nuts after age 1 with all
my kids. They never showed any signs of sensitivity. I waited until they

Oops. Nope, they share the 19th, but Zora's birthday is MAY 19, not
July 19. And, of course, Zora does rhyme with Aurora, which is indeed,
way cool. :)

Hurm. My family doctor said I should hold off on soy, peanuts and
beans, but I forgot to ask her how long I should wait. I see her for
myself next week, I should try to remember to ask her. Maybe Doc is
being overly conservative? Off course, I added tomatoes, other nuts
and strawberries to that list all by myself, from vague memories of
stuff I learned when my first kid was very small - so maybe I am the
one being overly conservative. :)

I guess I just want reasurrance that if she DOES have a reaction, I can
stop giving her that food and all will still be okay, or a firm date
when it is safe to feed her those things. I.e.: "Soy becomes safe at
17 months, one week and two days of age." ;)

Hi -

There is NO time at which any food becomes "safe". However, by delaying
you improve the odds that the food won't cause a reaction.

If your child does have a reaction, ruthlessly eliminate that food from
your child's diet for a while (several years) to improve the odds that
the reaction will not recur.

My family is big on environmental allergies, but no food allergies, so
we chose the route of adding one new food every 3 days while watching
for reactions, and holding off on adding common food allergens to the
mix until 12 months. We are waiting till 3 yrs before doing peanuts.
I've read conflicting things about whether or not you can eat peanuts
while BF. I know you shouldn't while pregnant.

Patrick is sensitive to dairy, toms, strawbs, and occasionally citrus.
We're completely avoiding nuts (man...I miss pine nuts!!). I haven't
heard anything about beans tho. What's that?

Patrick's 19 months, almost :-). He gets water, 5 little meals a day,
and lots and lots of bm. :-).
