Yes, it's an L2, approved by the AAP for use in BF mothers. Half-life, by
the way, is only 20-58 minutes.

Good news. According to Hale's 9th edition (2000), nitrofurantoin is
approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics for use in breastfeeding
mothers.

FYI, Hale's lactation risk level is L2 (safer). He says that "In one study
of 20 women receiving 100 mg four times daily, none was detected in milk."
Other studies with varying dosages found none or trace amounts in milk.
Under pediatric concerns: "None reported via milk, however, do not use in
infants with G6PD or in infants less than 1 month of age." An earlier
section explained the above was due to "the displacement of bilirubin from
albumin binding sites." Whatever that means.
