Baby sign language? by
Zen Cohen
Who's tried it and what do you think of it? Is it something you can learn
to do effectively on your own or do you recommend taking a 'workshop.' (eg:
http://www.imaginationsigners.com/index.htm)
TIA.

Ultasound to determine fetal weight by
Wendy
I am going in for a u/s Monday for a fetal weight estimate. giggles
Yes, I know it's kind of silly but I like ultrasounds. I really wonder
what it will say, too. Maybe it will say I am having a 6.5 lb baby and
my reluctant doctor will be suddenly excited about a VBAC. Ha! I still
haven't decided...

Snoring...help! by
Rebecca McGraw
My husband is about to go crazy, even though he knows it's perfectly
normal for 35.5-week-pregnant women to snore. However, I'm already using
two pillows, breathe-right strips, and saline nasal spray, and I'm
sleeping on my side...anyone have any ideas as to what else I can try? I
don't hear myself...

Why do you need a nickname? (Was Checking for progress) by
Leslie
Why do some people put so much emphasis on finding a nickname for a child?
This is something that totally eludes me.
For me, it's because I KNOW I will shorten the name, no matter how much I say I
won't. It's just the way I talk. So I try to think of an acceptable way to
shorten it in...

36 week visit by
ModernMiko
Well it was good and somewhat worrying. BP is good. I've started developing
a bit of pitting edema on my legs (but not feet or hands) by late afternoon
over the last few days. Weight is same as last week (down about 2 pounds
from pre-conception overall). She did a u/s and stinker is breech. Of...

Feeling umbilical cord... WEIRD! by
Zaz
Has anyone ever felt that?
This is the second morning I can feel the umbilical cord of my baby, right
by my rib, on the left side. The first time, I thought I'd imagined it in a
semi-comatose sleep I didn't want to get out of... This morning, as I rolled
on my back from right to left (holding my...

Contractions questions... by
emilymr
... for all you experienced mamas.
How can you tell if it's a 'real' contraction or if it's another BH? Do
all the real ones hurt? And can you feel the baby kick through a real
one? Or is the answer to all of the above: 'no woman/contraction is the
same'?? :)

Correct time for induction? by
Lorenzo
Hello again,
We are now at 38 weeks and waiting for baby to arrive any time!
However, I know of a tragic case where baby was alive and kicking in the
evening, but had died before the induction next morning! The placenta had
simply become exhausted.
My question therefore is, at what stage is it...

Line on Tummy by
melbgal1
The line Niagra ( or whatever it's called )
When does it go away ?
Cal is 5months old today, and I still have a feint pigmentation. It
doesn't bother me ( it's a nice little reminder ;), but 5 months seems a
long time ?!

Errm.. Anyone around at this time? by
Adam
My wife is currently in labour. This is our first, so we're not really sure
what to expect. She had her first contractions about 2 hours ago, but they
*appear* to be quite regular now... not quite at the 5 mins stage, but
getting there...
Isn't that slightly quick? The midwife wasn't really...

Baby bald spot?? by
Jill
I just noticed that R has a bald spot on the back of her head kind if right
behind her ears but in the middle of the back of her head. It looks like
from where she sleeps on her back and sides, and has "rubbed" her hair out
the way she lays on her head or something. Has anyone else had a baby...

Birth story by
Zannah
I will try to be as brief as possible...
Since I'd hit 42 weeks, my doctor was pushing for an induction. The
poposed schedule was: go to hospital on Wednesday at 8, get medication
at 9, be monitored for 2 hours, go home at 11, and come back once I was
well into labour. It didn't quite work out...

Should I do the AFP? by
Beach mum
Here's where it stands. I'm scheduled to do the AFP next Monday. But, we
already did a nuchal fold scan and passed with flying colors (my odds were
10x better than for the average for my age). If the AFP came back with bad
results, I'd do an amnio and we would terminate the pregnancy if it...

Moses basket/bassinet by
Steve and/or Erin
I would like to buy a bassinet and/or moses basket. Questions:
- The moses basket seems to offer the most flexibility, but they all say not
to carry the baby around in one- I thought this was the whole idea? Is it
really that dangerous?
- The baskets vary a lot in price; are their recommendations...

Ivory Snow by

Do they not make it anymore or what? They don't have it at Wal-Mart or Kroger,
and since I only buy the one box right before I have a baby, it's been more
than three years since I was paying attention. :-)
Yes, I know it's not strictly necessary--it's just a kind of little tradition I
have, to...

Is it possible? Any good tips how? I got a questionnaire which basically
qualified me with a note saying something along the lines of "you will be
summoned within the next year" My husband works 40 miles away, I have no
childcare (all family lives hours away) and all my usual baby sitters...
