i subscribe to http://fun.adviceby.com/, which is a daily email

a "motivational story". I liked today's story enough to share it. I
hope no one minds.

infant vitamin supplements by
V.
At our 2 month checkup, the pediatrician recommended that we start giving
her a multivitamin. Actually, she recommended vitamin D supplementation b/c
we live in Maine, don't go outdoors right now unless completely bundled, and
Madi is quite fair skinned. She also said that she recommends giving...

Switching Sides by
Con
How do you know when to switch from one breast to the other? I have a
baby who cannot drain one breast at most feedings. I want to make sure
both sides' milk supply stays up but I also want to ensure my infant
is getting the hindmilk in each breast as well. At first I was just
allowing 10 minutes...

6 month old growth spurt? by
jake's mom
Haven't posted in a while---back at work and extremely busy. My DS--just
turned 6 months on the 23rd--has recently begun waking in the night. He has
eaten probably 5 times overnight for the past week and a half(unlike his
usual 1-2 feeds overnight). I am exhausted and am praying this is a...

Can someone please look this up for me and tell me how it
might effect my baby through breastmilk. It's a

Not quite breastfeeding but... by
Nigel Reed
There was a report on TV last night about stores selling out of date
baby products that can be lethal to your youngster.
If you're about to move on to baby food, check the "SELL BY" date
carefully.

Need to talk to someone (long) by
Alison
How do you know when you've got PND? I can't cope anymore. I'm dreading my
DP going back to work. I'm tired and weary and I'm fed up with having to
carry DS about in order that he doesn't cry. It's difficult going out to any
other venue cos DS was vaccinated with an icicle and any temp over...

Yay Breastfeeding! 4mo update by
Nikki
The boys are doing so well I couldn't contain myself and so decided to post
an update since we had their 4mo appointment.
The breastfeeding is going amazingly well. They both only seem to nurse
when they are hungry. This is so nice for me. It makes nursing two very
manageable. They also...

She's finally nursing again by
hobbes
Okay, it's been a full week now, so I'm pretty sure that this post won't
jinx things (but I'm knocking on lots of wood as I type). I think I can
announce that DD has finally ended her nursing strike. For those who don't
remember, she went for 5 days refusing to nurse AT ALL (except for maybe
once...

Guess who has another staph infection in her breasts ?
Oh boy is it painful to breastfeed! One breast is all red, and the other
all lumpy! Both are very hot. However, I knew what to do this time -
straight to the doctor, and now I'm on a 14 day course of antibiotics.
I am determined to make my...

2 month (10 wk) baby update by
stasya
Hi all,
Baby Rosie was born on January 4th, and was 8 lbs 12 ozs. We just came
back from her two month immunization. She's actually exactly 10 weeks
old. She measures now at 23 inches, and 13 lbs 3 ozs! Weight wise,
she's somewhere just past the 95th percentile.
The only thing that would make me...

Need sources on gestational diabetes and bf immediately after labor by

I have gestational diabetes and I'm looking for sources on the effect that
bf-ing immediately after birth has on a baby's sugar levels, especially on
babies born to GD mothers. The only citation I have is from Henci Goer, but
I'm looking for more. I'm hoping that maybe some of y'all have run...
