Then again, my son didn't walk until 19 months and my 8 month old daughter is nowhere near walking so maybe I'm just jealous of this mummy with the super early walker? LOL On the off-chance that it was supposed to be 19 and not 9 months, you guide the sleepwalker back to their bed. It is not dangerous to wake a sleep walker - that's an old wives' tale. DS used to have night terrors and this puts him at risk of sleep walking later so I did some research. It may even be safer to wake a sleep walker, particularly if they get themselves near stairs or turn on the oven or hot plates, get into the refrigerator and then mysteriously start piling on weight but don't remember eating, etc. With a toddler sleepwalking it's best to just close their bedroom door and make sure there is nothing lying on the ground that they can trip over. You can lay out a mattress or blanket on the floor so they have a spot to go to sleep if they are too short to get themselves back into bed. The sleepwalking would indicate that the child is in a normal bed. You might want to put her back in a cot so she can't get out, unless she's a climber, in which case leave her in the normal bed, lay out a mattress or blanket for her to sleep on after she gets out of bed, make sure there are no toys or other objects on the floor so she can't trip and hurt hurself and close the door so she can't leave the room and get into trouble. If she's just getting out of bed and sleepily walking to your room and getting in your bed - that's not sleepwalking. That's normal toddler behaviour who wants to be with mummy and/or daddy. Engram |

I can't remember when she started walking while holding onto our hands, it was a few months before I guess, or maybe even before age 1. I know someone whose son started **running** at 7 months old. !!! He seemed to skip walking, and went straight to running. One thing I noticed about DD is that she walked later than a lot of kids, the average age seems to be around a year but lots of kids walk earlier, too, but she started walking later at 14 months old, and she never fell down much. A lot of the babies that started walking early were really wobbly and would fall down a lot. She never fell. Um, the boy who started at 7 months never fell either though- that was a sight to see, such a tiny little toddler running!!! |

I had a 10-month old that walked, but she wasn't getting out of the crib
though, lol. -- Sue "Jamie Clark" wrote in message ... You have a 9 month old baby who sleep walks? Most of us are asking for clarification from you, and then chatting amongst
ourselves. That's what happens on Usenet. You still have not really given information to exactly what the problem is. Is the baby standing and moving about in it's crib? Where does the baby sleep? Is the baby wandering down the hallways at 3am? Is the baby coming into your room at night and getting into bed with you? How do you know the baby is asleep? What exactly is happening, and what is the problem. Give us the details, and we'll give you all sorts of information -- some useful and some not! But at least we'll know what you are talking about. -- Jamie Earth Angels: Taylor Marlys -- 01/03/03 Addison Grace -- 09/30/04 Check out the family! -- www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest1, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password "Tishtash" wrote in message ... ok thanks but u all are talking about walking and only one off you talked about sleep walking she is nine months old and if any o you know about a baby under one sleep walking can you write and not about if your kids can walk or not. |

Hm... I think I know of one baby under 1 that sleep walks. Yours does, didn't you say? Easiest way to fix this problem: Put the baby to sleep in a crib. That will avoid walking further than a foot or two around in the crib. ;) |

Okay, since the child is really indeed 9 months old, then I would put one of
those nets over the crib. I had to use one for my last child because she walked at 10 months and I didn't want her getting out of the crib, since it was upstairs and risk falling down the stairs. -- Sue "Tishtash" wrote in message ... do any of you know anything about sleep walking because i have a 9 month old girl whos does any help would be great. |
