Default miscarriage & TTC

Hi

I have just had a m/c at 5 1/2 weeks - DH says everything he has read
suggests waiting for 2-3 months before ttc again but I don't ever
recall anything concrete regarding this despite 3 ish years of lurking
here. Is there any indication that we should wait (especially given
the very early timing of the m/c)

Thanks

Clare

There is no medical reason why you HAVE to wait 2-3 months after a very
early miscarriage. And 5.5 weeks is VERY EARLY. It's literally just a few
weeks of development, and the fetus is smaller than the period at the end of
this sentance. You may have slightly more bleeding than a regular period,
and maybe more cramping, but not necessarily. I had many early miscarriages
at 4, 5 and 6 weeks, and most were no worse than a regular period, in terms
of the bleeding (a little more clotting) and cramps.

One thing you can do is watch your cycle and take note of the next
ovulation. If it's 2 weeks from your miscarriage, it would indicate that
your body is back to normal and you could go ahead and try. Or you could
"sit out" that first ovulation and try the next month. It's your choice.
Many doctors recommend waiting 3 months before ttc again, but a lot of that
is for your emotional health, so you can process and greive, and so that
they can be sure that the new pregnancy isn't any remnent of the old one,
and date it accurately.

So do what feels right to you. I'm sorry for your loss.
