There's an old saying: "Bull**** baffles brains". In this case
bull**** baffles even people with no brains (or perhaps snails'
brains).

Don't go near sodium hypochlorite. The action of this chemical on
snail brain cells in vitro is far more dramatic than that of mercury
chloride, even when not applied under pressure and filmed with
time-lapse photography. It doesn't just inhibit microtubule
generation, it rips the entire cells apart. Stay away from it.

I notice that this "research" says that lead is safe in the brain.
That must be good news for Chinese toy manufacturers.
