FOX Plans Reality-TV "Bad Dads" Colosseum "Lynching" of Poor Men
April 24, 2008

I was astonished to see that FOX Television, in its nauseating quest for
ever tawdry reality-TV shows, plans to turn the problems of poor fathers
into an extermination in the Fox Colosseum.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox tagged Jim Durham, Director of
the "National Child Support Center", as the leading lion of the event.
Interestingly, this organization does not exist. The real name of the
company Durham runs is named "National Child Support" (NCS). The NCS is
not a national or official organization - it is a private for-profit
fee-based collections agency located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their website
cannily does not identify Durham on its website, but Zoominfo tagged the
truth.

National Child Support Center is one of several DBA's for Innovative
Collection Concepts, Inc. from Cincinnati. See:

I believe the proposed Fox show could have some value because I don't
think they can produce a series of shows based on the false stereotypes
they have about fathers, how they perceive the CS system works, and how
CS collection companies operate. It would be my guess the producers will
find some savvy fathers who can articulate the poor/arbitrary treatment
they received in the CS system, and state CS administrators won't sit
still for allegations of their ineffectiveness. I think a show that
stirs up a lot of emotional backlash will expose the system for what it
is - a bureaucratic nightmare that operates using rigid anti-father
biases.

I've been thinking along similar lines. Such a show, after they've gone
through the half dozen "Trophy" Dads (those with the money to burn to
afford the 18 car garage house-on-the-golf course with the new "Trophy"
Second Wife and all) and start to get into the blue collar, working class
Dads that more then make up the majority of divorced fathers, there just
might be a change of turning thing monster on it's head and shining a
light on the real problem.

Of course, the suits at Fox can always pull the plug on the show after
they hit the real McCoy's and "reality" comes home to roust on them with
father's launching defamation suits against them, charging Fox billions in
revenue when they snag that one Father who won't take their smear campaign
and propaganda machine lying down.

But we can hope...

The show concept is based on the CS collection agency business model. Once
Fox figures out these people are leaches who prey on desperate women by
charging them collection fees (34% or whatever) on current CS as well as
arrearage CS, the bubble will burst. And if you check out many of these
collection agencies, like Durham's company, they have Cease and Desist
Orders from state AG's for operating in their states without a license.
There is too much money flowing to the states' CS programs from the federal
OCSE for them to let this show shed any light on their "tax scheme" on NCP
fathers.
