Default Basal Body Temperature BBT after 1st Trimester: SHould it drop or maintain?

I read 2 differing views on BBT after 1st Trimester..

1. Some say BBT should be elevated THROUGHTOUT pregnancy.

2. But from wiki or answers.com : " ... If pregnancy does occur, the
corpus luteum continues to function (and maintain high BBTs) for the
first trimester of the pregnancy. After the first trimester, the
woman's body temperature drops to her pre-ovulatory normal as the
placenta takes over functions previously performed by the corpus
luteum...."

So which is the correct answer?

Thank you!

So are you pregnant after taking your bbt? If so, then the answer is to
stop taking your temps and not worry about it. The poin of temping is to
catch the egg. You've done that. Now relax and stop taking your
temperature.

Thank you Jamie. Yes, i'm preg. just curious on whether taking bbt

Not to my knowledge, no. At least not reliably enough to make it worth the
stress. Temps can vary for so many reasons, that it would make you nuts if
you got a low temp one morning. Better to just stop taking your temps and
wait it out, like most people do!

Congrats again.

I'm not sure, but in my personal experience it has varied. I have had
my BBTs drop during the 1st trimester in a normal full term
pregnancy. I did not keep temping, so I don't know if they went back
up. In a pregnancy miscarried at 11 1/2 weeks, my BBTs stayed high
for a month after the miscarriage (until my next period).

In my other pregnancies, I only temped long enough to confirm the
prenancy.
