And yes, I was guessing. I GUESS *some* spanking parents don't even
think about other possibilities rather than spank. They spank because
they were spanked. Because it's the way things are done and it always
has been like that, to them. That is not hard for me to believe.

I don't pretend to be a social worker. I described myself as a
vehement non-spanker because I believe it is possible to raise a child
without corporal punishment, and intend to raise my daughter that way.
However, I am a newbie parent and will have to prove myself right.
Therefore, I am trying to understand spanking parents, and most of
all, to find out about other means of discipline and education.

That is my main interest in this newsgroups.
