Default The Montel Show

Why is it that Montel has all these family re-union shows where kids
have found their birth mothers. There is always the tear jerking story
and the moment that they are reunited...along with the story about how
things got so rough that the poor 'victim' mother just HAD to do it.
They just walked away from these kids. If a dad does it he is a
deadbeat and has a huge order for back-support, but if a mom does it,
she sheds a few tears, offers up some excuses and everyone is happy
that the mom has found her long lost child...bleh.

It's all in the presentation.
It's why people go to church; it's how the government promotes patriotism
(nationalism); it's why we believe the courts are interested in justice.
Television, especially news, daytime talk shows and so-called "reality"
shows skew the viewer's opinion to make it appear that black is white, day
is night and women are better than men, mothers better than fathers and it's
"in the best interests of the children".
It's not that they lie, they just don't tell the whole truth.

Actually, the book "Throwaway Dads" discusses the media bias against
fathers. Fathers are portrayed as burning the food, not being able
to change a diaper and generally inept. Mothers always know what is best
and must tell the fathers how to take care of children.

I don't want to answer one question with some others, but . . .

Who primarily watches daytime TV shows like Montel? What will happen if
Montel's show appears to be prejudiced against mothers? What will happen if
Montel's show appears to be prejudiced against fathers? In the latter case,
will Montel hear from the National Organization for Men? Will NOM get on to
his advertisers and threaten boycotts of their products? Is the Pope
Catholic? Do bears defecate in the woods?
