Default Blood Clot in the Leg?

How can I tell if I have a blood clot in my leg? I've had a very sore
spot in my calf for the last few days. I didn't bang it. It doesn't
feel like a muscle strain. I don't see any bruising, swelling or
redness. I've read that pregnant woman are suseptible to blood clots
and sometimes they are symptom less. I'll ask the doctor about it this
week but I'm wondering the 'net has any wisdom or experience.

could be the beginning of vericose veins, but of course check with the
doctor.

Have you had leg cramps? Even small ones at night that don't wake you up can
hurt the next day. HTH

when i thought i had a clot, my doc measured in the exact same spot on each
leg. Also, if it is a clot, next week is too long to wait.

cramps are the usual explanation, but i'd ring sooner just to be on the safe
side if i was you. i am NO EXPERT!!!

The answer is that it is very, very hard. I had all the symptoms a
couple months ago, but the ultrasound showed completely clear veins and
everything was okay.

If you have a history of clots in your family (strokes, heart attacks,
miscarriages, stillbirths, preeclampsia) then you should be more
vigorous in pursuing than if those things are rare in your family, but
regardless, it is okay to get checked out. Takes a quick ultrasound on
your legs to start with, and that usually pretty much rules out clots.

THAT said... some methods you can use in pregnancy to gently reduce
your risk of clotting include drinking purple 100% concord grape juice
(welches 100% was the actual brand studied in teh research), about 6
ounces before bedtime, making sure you're getting enough vitamin E,
increasing your magnesium intake a bit (200-400 mg is safe and can
reduce a LOT of other discomforts as well). B-vitamins and folic acid
are also helpful, as are dark green leafy veggies.
