Default In between clothes?

What in the world have the rest of you done for pants/skirts in the
in-between stages? I now have only one pre-pregnancy skirt that fits me, but
I don't yet fit in maternity (tried a few pairs on this weekend, and they
were WAY too big in the waist still). I've tried pants that were one size up
from my normal size, but they are then too big in the hips and butt and look
ridiculous. For work, I've been rotating my one skirt with a pair of yoga
pants that look semi-ok for the office. Sure would be nice to have a couple
more options...

Any suggestions?

I bought regular maternity clothes and had my mom take them in, but not cutting
off too much excess. As I got bigger, she let them back out.

After the baby, she started taking them back in.

Some maternity pants I got cheap enough (2.99 a pair at a Gap clearance outlet)
that I just had her take them in for good.

See if you can find someone who does alterations in your area who can do
something like this.

a pair of mens tracksuit bottoms helped me through this phase, then
holding up maternity stuff with safety pins.

I didn't really buy too many maternity clothes (many were given), but I did
buy regular pants in the Plus size in another size in the inbetween stages.
Stretch pants also worked well. No help on skirts, I don't wear them.

I found getting overalls or maternity pants that I could roll to fit better
worked best for me. They also have a thing called the belly belt at
Motherhood where you can button it into your jeans it will expand the belly
a little for ya. You can also wear it throughout the whole pregnancy, I did
with my first baby.

I wore my regular clothes attached with a rubber hairband,
that worked fine until I fit into the maternity stuff.

Look for maternity clothing with adjustable waists - a lot of the
skirts and pants have various systems to allow you to haul them in or
let them out as need be.

The other thing you can do is wear long tunic type tops. Also,
although you may think they are awful, try the el cheapo older lady
section in Walmart and Sears and get yourself some inexpensive elastic
topped pants. No one will see the top of them if they are under a top,
and they will give enough to get you through this phase. Beats holding
regular pants together with safety pins.

Most of my maternity pants and skirts have draw strings in them so I
could adjust them to my size. Some items I'm sure you could easily
add a draw string to yourself! I also used safety pins on some things
to keep them snug to my hips. You may be able to buy a size or two
larger then your pre-pregnancy size and wear them now and again after
pregnancy!
