Nice try teachermama....but not a typical scenario----you are so typical
of the feminist
attitude that has stripped this country of any
self-respect it once had....you are part of the
pop-culture wasteland that vote people like
Bill Clinton into office.....by the way Iam not
Republican if thats what your thinking....

Actually, you are wrong, Patrick. I am very much against the system as it
now is. I think, if we must have a system, it should impact both members of
the ex-couple equally. If women were not assured child support and/or
alimony, I think they would be far more loathe to end relationships. I
think that if unmarried women knew that dad could opt out of fatherhood as
easily as she could opt out of motherhood, we'd see far, far fewer single
mother households. If 50/50 custody were the default option, we would see
more marriages sticking together. But because Big Daddy Gubmint comes down
squarely on the side of mothers, they feel secure in any
negotiations--making them not negotiations, but demand sessions. That is
just plain wrong. But the fact that men are so poorly treated by the system
now is no excuse for reversing things and putting another group into the "to
be screwed" position. *Everyone* needs to be treated with fairness, or no
system you can devise is any better than the system we have right now.
