Wanna read a thread about kindergarten?

Yes! My grandsons are now three and a half, in Montessori full-day (day camp
at the school now), and I think a Kindergarten thread might be helpful.

How do you manage that, Seth? Do you have a December birthday cutoff or
something? Here it's Sept. 1 so my kids had to wait 10+ months ...

My twins are 4 1/2, also in Montessori day camp. They started the
kindergarten level the first week in July. They will transfer to
public kindergarten in September.

Although I don't think it's so bad, even by a month. Kathleen has a little
girl that will soon be 9 and going into the 4th grade. Almost 3/4 of the
girls in the class are developing, have many of their adult eye teeth in and
hormones raging. She is very young, can't relate to anyone in her class
(most of the kids), tends to hang with the young 2nd graders (while in 3rd
grade), and is struggling in school with basic stuff. She's a bright girl
but according to my SIL (she has a masters in ed), keeping them back a year
really isn't that bad - but do it in the beginning - kindergarten for
instance. The girls are all taking about the bra size they wear and poor
Katie is in tears because she is no where near that stage. I don't think
it's an issue in the first couple of years in school but as the kids advance
and they are the youngest in the class, it can become an issue. My DH who
is also in education always said the kids who had the birthdays early or mid
school year seemed to do better than the late or summer birthdays. Just
impute.
