I also bf in the car, but I hate it because I have a '99 Corolla and
it's very tight in the back seat (no pun intended). We can't get
comfortable because the car seat takes up the whole middle of the back
seat.

I don't normally bf in the back - I take her out of the carseat (while
stopped, of course) and she sits with me in my normal seat up front.
(Driving or passenger depending on the situation)

Ditto for me, too.

Indeed, I wondered - why, if the back seat is small, wouldn't you take the child
to the front??

IIRC, back when I only had ds, I sometimes did bf in the back seat. It
was a little crowded, but doable, and it minimized moving around. I
can see why it would be the first impulse - you're right there and all.
Now that I have 2, I'd have to squeeze in-between two carseats - not
terribly comfy!

When the twins were small, I managed a couple of times, usually when we
could not get out of the car for some reason. Once was when we were
stuck in stopped traffic on a bridge for over an hour...

We put the 3 yo in the front seat (no air bags in the car: not as safe,
but way back then it was pretty common) and I'd sqeeze between the two
infant seats in the back of a Mazda hatchback (NOT terribly comfortable)
and lean forward over the rear-facing seats one at a time to nurse them.
It was pretty miserable for me, but beat the heck out of NOT feeding
them until we could pull over!

Bf'ing next to her rear-facing jumbo car seat is not fun. I have to
make sure she doesn't bump her head on it. I'll try it in the front
seat. Thanks.

We never showered with any of the kids, but we did bath with them.

I often bathed with Nathanael, once when we were on holiday when he was
nearly 1, there was a shower room and a bath room, the bathroom was in use
so I hoped in the shower, we decided N needed a wash so DH got him undressed
and passed him to me, it wasn't long before he wriggled into a position
where he could latch on!

Well, I guess it just seems more private because we're behind a seat,
as opposed to the front where there's a big ol' window showing us off.
Mind you, I am kind of new to NIP. Thanks for understanding.
