Baby has lots of gas
What can I do to reduce gas for baby? He's on dairy formula and *some*
breastmilk. We were thinking of trying a soy based formula? Does that sound reasonable? |

Baby has lots of gas
Some gas is normal. Try Mylicon drops, or Baby's Bliss drops. Bicycle his
legs to help him get it out. Make sure to burp him after each ounce, to get the gas out. Try Dr. Brown's bottles to reduce the gas. The first 12 weeks are the hardest for both new baby and new parents. You can't always fix everything. Babies cry. Their digestive systems are still immature and growing, and many issues will work themselves out by the time he is 3 months old. -- Jamie Earth Angels: Taylor Marlys -- 01/03/03 Addison Grace -- 09/30/04 Check out the family! -- www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest1, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password wrote in message oups.com... Baby has lots of gas
Jamie's right that it is normal, if you were to truly think it was dairy
related, I'd highly recommend you act now to get baby fully breastfed and mum off dairy - a reasonably high number of babies who have issues with dairy, then turn out to have issues with soy and you end up with needing to buy hypoallergenic formula, which is ridiculously expensive and some babies don't even thrive on that. It's impossible to say what the chances are of it being dairy related, there are several other things to try though, the drops, as Jamie mentioned, taking care of positioning, both during feeding to ensure he doesn't take in air as well as milk and afterwards to encourage everything downwards. There is also the actual act of giving baby a good burp, there are various techniques to do it (ask anyone older than about 60, when it really was the trend to burp baby fully after each and every feed). There is also massage, again, there is a technique to it, don't quote me on this, but it's basically rubbing the tummy clockwise. Cheers Anne |
