Not necessarily between master and slave, except perhaps the house slaves. Were slaves doing cooking forbidden to read recipes? Why would they have written recipes? where's the proof that they did not ? If they were given written recipes, that would be tacit admission of a crime, specifically teaching them to read. 'some places' do you have proof that there were NO written recipes in ANY location ? What kind of proof are you looking for? if not, your arguement is flawed For a class in logic, yes. For someone looking to figure out what was most likely the case, why? so now your standard is not 'logical true or false' , but 'what was most likely the case' ? nice waffle come back when you're ready to deabte with the grown-ups You missed a question in your rush to condescend. I missed nothing except your attempt to dilute the burden of proof, which is on you, not me No, you actually missed a question. It was: What kind of proof are you looking for? Again, a nice waffle, but no cigar. Mmmm waffles. Slainte, Fletch |

What is your proof?

--------------- Cosby is a rich rightist asshole, he always has been, he has played golf with Nixon and Reagan, and he's a black racist. The "I don't give a damn" attitide is a form of disrespect that the white society has earned with its racist and economic brutality and unfairness!!! Steve Well I've heard a lot of weird stuff but labeling Cosby as a racist is quite amusing. Besides what you're not getting, is the form of "disrespect" that you think hurts white America is really just hurting black America. It isn't hurting those they think they are hurting. That is what Cosby is trying to say |

More black children come from broken homes. Something like 70%.
Everyone knows that is not helpful, statistics show this fact alone starts them out on the wrong track. Children like this are much more likely to live in poverty, do more crime, and end up with a poorer education. Black children aren't alone in these statistics. A friend of a friend is 38, on baby number four, all by four different men. They live in a two bedroom trailer. Her daughter is 12 now. The last man, daddy of baby number four, lived there with her until she got pregnant and then split (big surprise). What is daughter learning? Chances are, she'll go up unfortunately and repeat the same mistakes her mother made. Holger Dansk wrote: On Sun, 23 May 2004 22:24:26 GMT, "Fletch F. I sort of figure that if your butt is on a chair, bench, couch, the ground, the back of a car, the edge of a table, etc. and your weight is mainly supported by that butt, allowing your legs and feet to rest, then you're sitting correctly. Right? What does it even mean to sit incorrectly? It means to sit in a way that leads to injury, short term or long term, through falling or improper body posture. It means to sit in a way such that you damage things. There is also a correct way to look at a monitor and type while you are sitting correctly. Set that up wrong and work at a computer for a few years. You'll find what incorrect means. OK, but what's it to you? Nothing. I was answering your question. And blunting, ever so slightly, your general point about the complete arbitrariness of the word correct. Everyone does stuff with, for and to their bodies that could be called sub-optimal. No question. I do it all the time, although I am getting better. And really, the best way to look at these factors is through risk assessment. There is a risk that poor posture will lead to late-life back trauma. There is a risk that poor wrist positioning will lead to nervous disorders after years of typing. So those are incorrect, right? If your goal is to be healthy, those are incorrect. What about driving? Is driving incorrect because there is a risk of injury and death? One must look at the *consequences* of driving or not driving, and perhaps at the consequences of driving well or driving poorly. I mean, the implications here are pretty broad and it certainly sounds to many of us like a very broad brush painting along lines of truth are being used to obscure racism. What's your agenda? I don't think I really have one. I have no use for racists. They make me sick. But sometimes I get a similar feeling from well-intentioned people who allow discussion of nothing beyond PC-filtered tripe, sort of anti-racists. Blacks score poorly on standardized tests compared with whites and asians. And the gap persists, year after year. Why? I don't know. I just want the friggin' problem solved. And the current solutions are not closing the gap. The problem is with the black value system which is terrible. They do not value education and doing things right. Blacks must want to speak correctly and walk correctly and sit correctly and do many other things correctly in order to change their lives. They must value education instead of criticizing and making fun of black students who do well on test and study and try to do well. Without a good value system they are lost.
