c-section dilemma, another question
Thanks for your responses to first dilemma.
My second question is would a slightly irritable uterus be anything to worry about for a VBAC? I get BH's often. Several per hour sometimes. Not painful, just uncomfortable. Doc said they are nothing to worry about now but it may mean painful contrax during labor which was true for first delivery. 4 to 5 hours of painful contrax every 5 mins then c-section, and I couldnt walk at all too painful. That NST machine always read about 100 at peek of contrax. (not sure if that means anything) BUT...Not sure if this (many BH's now) would increase chance of rupture. THe docs said chances are already increased by 3 times since I had previous C. What do you think? Is my uterus working harder? or getting tighter than most? eeeek. Thanks again!! |

I had an irritable uterus in my second pregnancy. I was given an 80% chance of having a successful VBAC. The only thing my Dr said about an irritable uterus was that it was probably caused by being GBS + - and I was. That was it. I never felt anything. If I hadn't had a Non Stress Test, I never would have known. I don't think it'll make any difference in trying a VBAC. Sophie - TTC #4 |

c-section dilemma, another question
Thanks. Interesting. I also was GBS + for the first, not sure about this
time. THe docs never mentioned irritable uterus to me, they say it is common to have the BH's. I have no idea if I have irritable ute. But it feels like it. Is there a threat to the baby via c-section because of the fluid in the lungs not being forced out by labor? I read that too? I am assuming you know about this. Thanks again O So reasearch says, and it makes sense to me. That being said, all 3 of mine were fine, no breathing problems. |

I already have irritable uterus with #2, and I am only 6 months along. I have mentioned that to the OB when I saw him. He didn't think that would have a bearing on having a successful VBAC. -- Daye Momma to Jayan "Boy" EDD 11 Jan 2004 See Jayan: http://jayan.topcities.com/ |

I always know when it is elective C/S day when I turn up to work and there are 3 new babies in the Special Care Nursery grunting and on oxygen monitors. Yes, there is a much higher risk of TTN (Transient Tachypnoea of the Newborn) from elective C/S with no labour. But TTN is a temporary thing. Only problem is it leads to prolonged separation of mum and baby, and often unnecessary antibiotics. HTH Jo (RM) -- Babies are Born... Pizzas are delivered. |
