Yes, baby is he a beautiful little girl, 7lb (so much for SGA and IUGR), born on Grant's birthday (Happy Birthday to Grant and you too, Joy!), very like her brother, quite perfect and healthy except for the SCT. As soon as I have time I will post her birth story. She was transfered within hours to the NICU at Children's Hospital, Boston, where she is now recovering from surgical removal of the SCT. The surgery went extremely well and her recovery is proceeding rapidly. Meanwhile, I am a virtual prisoner here by day, constantly either nursing or pumping, or eating, or doing 2 or more of these things at once. At night I go "home" to our temporary apartment to sleep, shower etc., and pump 2-3 times. While I am gone the NICU nurses bottle feed her from my stash, resorting to formula when the stash runs out. The formula upsets her stomach somewhat, so I am trying very hard to produce enough milk. At day 7, she likes 3oz every 3 hours. My milk has come in really well (I am so glad she is not my first baby), but 24oz/day is a struggle. Children's Hospital, Boston is wonderful. Congratulations!!! Welcome baby girl. I'm so glad the surgery went well. Keep that pumping going--you're doing *great*! Sharalyn mom to Alexander James (9/21/01) |

That's such great news, and I, too, had been wondering about you. I think Childrens' is amazing -- unfortunately, DD2 also thinks its such a great place and she had such a great time there (for an MRI) that she talks about how she wishes she could go back, perhaps get really hurt somehow, just to see that place again. Errr... Congrats again! Caledonia |
