Roll Call (Karen)
Missy:
Cool! Did you find the book at Barnes & Noble? Don't worry - that's one of our favorite places to go, too. Glad to know we're not the only ones with such exciting lives Of course, we're really lame because the first thing we do is see if the store has dh's book on the shelves. We always feel so silly looking! I think dh has some sample pages of his book on the website www.ameliarules.com if you weren't able to find it. yeah, we both managed to pick very challenging careers. I'm a SAHM now, but I still do freelance work at the tv station (I worked 3am-noon today, yuck!). Dh also does graphic design at the station - we'd both love if he could be a full-time SAH-writer, though. We're working toward that, of course I know he'd just be tempted to play with the babies all day! take care, Karen |

Books for kids (was Roll Call (to Karen)
Yeah, we spend WAY too much on children's books, too...and we tend to be very picky DD and I have found that yard or garage sales are WONDERFUL places to find kids' books -- sometimes for ten or twenty five cents apiece! They are often in BRAND NEW condition, and the sellers will say something like, "I bought them for my grandchildren but they had already outgrown them" or "I bought them (or got them as gifts) and my kids hate to read" (grrr to that one!) Their loss is always our gain! So the kids have shelves of books (that they can reach) in Mom and Dad's bookcases, and tons of books at MomMom and PopPop's house (on their own bookshelves AND in their 'guest room') Grandmom Gwen in S.E. What are your girls' favorite books?
They go through stages where they want the same book read every night and then they'll change to another one after about 3 weeks. Right now they are stuck on the Little Critter Mercer Mayer books. They also love Eric Carle books. Mine tend to like unique artwork - like Miss Spider's Teaparty or any book by Jack Kent. They also love Dr. Seusse's art - it's so cute to watch them light up when they see those books! Of course, at 9 months, my girls are a bit more interested in eating books right now Oh, they have good tastes (no pun intended). It took my girls quite a while to get to the point where they wouldn't eat or tear up the books. Andrea twin girls-Madison & Jordan 4 yrs. old |

It took my girls quite a
while to get to the point where they wouldn't eat or tear up the books. . You too! ?? Our ID twin boys, 3-1/2 years old MAYBE just stopped making "book boo-boos" which means tearing books and laughing...mostly when books were left in their room. Interestingly, Max adores having his Dad's law books in bed with him, and has never hurt one. But they've gone through a few Dr. Seuss books and copies of Where the Wild Things Are. Very disheartening to all of us. GrandmomGwen in S.E. PA |
