Default Cadmium, Mercury, Pesticides: Environmental Chemicals of Concern

What do you suggest we do about this?

I see a lot of TVs, computer monitors, computers and other electronic
equipment going into the garbage, which means we are putting lead and other
chemicals into dumps.

One thing we can do about this is start electronic recycling programs so
that the lead and other things don't get into dumps.

You can recycle everything you can, so that plastics, newspaper, etc., is
reused. This will help slow the environmental decline.

You can save water (which uses chlorine as a disinfectant in most places)
and electricity by using urinals (when appropriate) instead of toilets (this
works for men only), not flushing after each use (use the addage to help you
decide when to not flush: If it is yellow, let it mellow, if it is brown,
flush it down), turning up the thermostat a few degrees in the summer and
down a few degrees in the winter, taking public transportation and walking
instead of driving (this also increases your excercise, which is also good),
and getting energy efficient vehicles (VW makes clean diesel cars that gets
about 40 mpg and there are hybrid cars that get similar mileage).

You can share your concerns with your country's leaders and legislators. In
the US, the shrub says he is very concerrned about the environment. If you
are US resident, you might suggest ways that he can help improve the
enviornment.
