Foster children removed from jailed coach's home

Montgomery County Children Services removed two infants Thursday from
foster care in the home of Todd P. Shellabarger, a Brookville volunteer
girls' basketball coach jailed on sexual imposition charges.

Ann Stevens, public information coordinator for the Department of Job
and Family Services, said Shellabarger and his wife had been foster
parents with Children Services for about 18 months.

At the time of his arrest May 26, an 18-month-old boy and
seven-month-old girl were being fostered in the home. They were removed
as a matter of procedure in light of the current charges against
Shellabarger and placed in another foster home Thursday.

Stevens said the Shellabargers passed extensive background and criminal
checks before becoming foster parents.

Shellabarger remained in jail Thursday on a domestic violence charge and
three counts of gross sexual imposition involving two 12-year-old girls.
