DD usually takes a shower with one/both of us and loves it! she doesn't seem
to mind the water in her face, in fact, sticks her tongue out to drink it :)
yesterday though, it was hot here and so I took her little bathtub out onto
our back porch and filled it with warm water and just let her sit and play
in it and get used to it on her own terms. I did a little washing up, but
no rush to any of it. I also had a jug of clean water to rinse her off
with. she really seemed to like it.
as a kid, I never liked water in my face; used a washcloth over my eyes to
keep it out. at the ripe old age of 42, I am still that way, unless I am
swimming, where it doesn't bother me. go figure. anyway, I have made it a
point with all 3 of my kids to not make a big issue of getting their faces
wet so that they don't suffer through it like I did. my first two are
almost 16 and 18+ yo, my newest is now 2 months. so far, it seems to be
working.

I would say that depends on your child, more than what you've done. It was
never made a big issue with children I've known and most of them have
objected. In my cousins' case one child objected, the other could have lived
underwater and wasn't bothered. Both were treated the same way. I wouldn't
count your chickens on the 2 month old either...

Children who react with fear to water are those who were coerced or
forced to endure water that frightened them at some point early
in their childhood, and this is a neurotic symptomatology based on
those traumatic events. This is shown in her case by having NO
problem when swimming, but with washing, where it probably occurred.

No child should ever be coerced to do or endure anything, it harms
them almost permanently, in thousands of small ways.
