View Full Version : Massachusetts - finding other toddler parents

June 15th 06, 07:46 AM
Hi,

Out toddler is 2 1/2 and had been in day care since age 1. Now her
baby sister has arrived, mom is staying at home and she is no longer
going to daycare - and appears to be missing it a lot - the structure
but more importantly the interaction with other kids.

What are the resources we can use to perhaps locate other moms of 2-3
year olds who are up to meet 4 days a week or so at a consistent time
so kids can play and socialize?

So far the library/park is great but not consistent with who is there
etc.

Perhaps there are toddler mommy groups somewhere? Ideally in the
Walpole/Canton/Norwood area south Boston.

thanks!

Tim

Try Mothers and More. This is a national organization designed to provide
support to SAHMs, and our local chapter does playgroups several times a week
in various venues. It won't be nearly as structured as you seem to want, but
will likely provide at least a nucleus of a group of friends.

In addition, does it have to be the same kids every day? There are plenty of
regular activities which can provide some consistent routine and structure
and children to interact with, and where you'll have many of the same kids
on a week to week basis, but probably not on a daily one. I have something
with my daughter every morning, ranging from Kindermusik to Parent's day out
to the public library to the grocery store, and she lets me know if we're in
the wrong place on the wrong day. (No! NO STORE-GO MUSIC!!).

Try www.meetup.com. You can find just about any group just about anywhere
there. If not, she can start her own group through meetup. I found our
playgroup that way and it's wonderful.

Try the mom's club.

We are members here in Louisiana and we do playgroups,
park dates, activities just for moms in the evenings, etc.
